Milton W. Ferris

Milton W. Ferris, 95, of Whitford St., Wakefield, RI passed away May 30 at Silver Creek Manor Bristol, RI. He was the husband of Helen (Wojcik) Ferris. Born in Taunton Ma., he was the son of the late Milton Ferris Sr. and Mary Vieria Damos. In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Elaine Varrecchione of Wakefield, RI and her husband Anthony and a stepdaughter, Janice Wright of Wakefield, RI. He was the father of the late Arthur Ferris and Albert Ferris and stepfather of the late Patricia Clark and Jeffrey Clark. He was the brother of Ramona Marrier and Louise O'Brien and the late Edward Ferris and Albert Rose. He also leaves nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Ferris was the owner/broker of Town and Country Real Estate in South County for over 20 years. He was also employed as an aircraft inspector and quality specialist by the Dept. of Defense at Quonset Point. Mr. Ferris served in the US Army during WWII. In addition to three battle stars, he was awarded ten medals including the bronze star, Presidential Unit Citation and the Combat Infantry Badge. In 1951, Mr. Ferris was an organizer and President of the Parents Council for Retarded Children of RI, later to be reorganized as the RIARC (RI Association for retarded citizens.) Mr. Ferris, enjoyed art and loved to paint. He was a member of the Wickford Art Association. He collected, appraised, and repaired antique timepieces and clocks. He traveled extensively in Europe, and spent winters in Bonita Springs, Florida. His funeral will be held on Thursday June 4, 2015 at 9 a.m. from Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Rd., Kingston. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 245 Waterman St. # 306, Providence, RI 02906.
