Millicent Lois Smith, 94, of South Kingstown, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2015. Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Millicent was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lenora Yamin of New York City and beloved wife of the late Dr. Charles I. Smith. A graduate of Hunter College High School, Columbia University and the University of Maryland, Millicent was Chairman of the Science Department and a well-respected and dedicated teacher of biology and physiology at South Kingstown High School. She is survived by her loving children, Dr. Carol Smith of Overland Park, KS, Barbara (Dave) Ruel of Clifton Park, NY and Dr. Alan (Cindy) Smith of East Greenwich. Millicent also leaves three beloved grandchildren, Erin, Lauren and Ross. Millicent was predeceased by her brother, Martin. Visiting hours will be held from 4:30-6:30 pm, and a funeral ceremony from 6:30-7 pm, on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Avery–Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. A committal service will take place Saturday March 28, 2015 at 11 am at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
