Mildred A. Whittier, 97, of Narragansett, passed away Wednesday May 16th. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren F. Whittier, to whom she was married to for 72 years, and they are now reunited after 5 years apart. Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late James and Edna (Morrison) Daniels. Mrs. Whittier was a bookkeeper for her husbands plumbing for many years, and she also was a Nursery School Teacher at the Gingerbread Nursery School in Wakefield. She loved walking the Seawall in Narragansett, fishing with her husband on their boat "The Odd Couple, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her special "Chowda", her great love and passion for life, optimism, kindness, happiness, spunk, and for being such a great role model to so many people. She is survived by six grandchildren, Suzanne Varhol, William Wade Whittier, Wendy Sue Kinsey, Daniella Reichstetter, Hans Reichstetter, and Karl Reichstetter; and six great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late William Whittier and Diana Reichstetter. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday May 31st at 10:30 am at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you take someone fishing.
