Mildred Sheldon

Mildred H. Sheldon, 98, of Kingston, died Friday. She was the wife of the late Foster R. Sheldon. Born in South Kingstown, she was the daughter of the late Alfred C. and Henrietta (Baillie) Schmidt. She was a graduate of Pembroke College and received her Masters of Science degree from URI. Mrs. Sheldon was an active member of her community and was a founding member of the Kingston Improvement Association, a founding member of the Kingston Fair, and the Kingston Hill Gardeners Club, a member of the Potter Memorial Fund, the Every Tuesday Club. She was also a master gardener who made arrangements for various events in Kingston. She is survived by a son and his wife, David and Debra Sheldon of Kingston; three grandchildren, Kayla, Matthew and Daniel Sheldon, and a niece, Carolyn Curtis of Narragansett. She was the sister of the late Christina Dansie. Memorial donations may be made to the Kingston Improvement Association, P.O . Box 141, Kingston, RI 02881-0141. Funeral services will be private.
