Michael F. Wiebe

March 22, 1947 — January 1, 2017

Michael F. Wiebe, 69, of Wakefield, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday January 1st. He was the beloved husband of Diana (Rash) Wiebe. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of the late Michael F., Sr., and Katherine (Long) Wiebe. Mr. Wiebe served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and served on the front lines during the Tet Offensive in 1968. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association. He will be remembered as a loving, funny, kind, and generous person, who was adored by his family. Surviving besides his wife are, a daughter, Lindsay Wiebe of Sunnyside, NY; 3 sisters, Irene Koster of North Carolina, Katherine Haack of East Islip, NY, and Deborah Anson of Narragansett; and a brother, Lt. Colonel John Wiebe of Ft. Bragg, NC. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Thursday, 4-7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 am in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial with military honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 75851, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517, www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
