Obituary

Michael K. Kelleher, 72, of South Kingstown passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Ekstrand) Kelleher.

Michael was born on May 22, 1953, to Francis and Helen (Donley) Kelleher of Providence and Bonnet Shores, Narragansett. He was the brother of the late Francis and Margaret Kelleher Mahoney.

A graduate of LaSalle Academy and Providence College, he was the General Chief Clerk of Rhode Island Superior Court for 28 years. He also was a wedding officiant for many years.

He was a member of the Green Hill Beach Club, the South Kingstown Elks Lodge, and the Matunuck Community Association. Michael and Susan enjoyed traveling and spent a few winters in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida. He was a dedicated Providence College basketball fan.

He is survived by his wife Susan. He was the brother-in-law and sister-in-law to Nancy and Ken Lamb of Arizona, and Richard and Luanne Ekstrand of New Hampshire. He was uncle to Jessica Lamb of California, Kyle Ekstrand of New Hampshire, and Kimberly Ekstrand of Massachusetts. He was the father of Michael Kelleher II and Courtney Dubois, both of Rhode Island.

Calling hours for Michael will be held on Thursday, January 29th, 2026 from 3 to 6 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. A funeral service will take place on Friday, January 30th, 2026 at 11 AM at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 15 East Beach Road, Charlestown. Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to LaSalle Academy, 612 Academy Ave., Providence, RI 02908 would be appreciated.
