Michael P. Harrington

Michael P. Harrington, 56, passed away January 10, 2014. Husband of Joan (Hailer) Harrington; father of Matthew Harrington, Meeghan Milette, Michaela and Mackenzie Harrington; grandfather to Lily and Aria Harrington; son of Carl and Maryann Harrington; brother to Barbara Flynn, Shawn, Daniel, David, and Glenn Harrington, predeceased by his sisters Patricia Harrington and Erin Baird. Born in Methuen Massachusetts in 1957, Michael graduated from Thornton Academy in Maine. He proudly served in the United States Navy as an anti-submarine warcraft operator and was honorably discharged in 1983. He and his wife Joan eloped in Hawaii in 1980 marking the beginning of many life celebrations, most notable, the births of his children in 1981, 1983, 1984, and 1988. Michael successfully worked in the automobile industry as a business/finance manager for a number of dealerships in New England. Michael loved to laugh and always sought to bring humor to every aspect of life, making the world brighter for all those that knew him. While Michael had many loves, such as the service he provided his country, golf, the family dogs, the beach, and movies to name a few, he loved his family above all else. His legacy of love and life is lived on through his children and grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, January 14th from 6-8 p.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI. A funeral Mass for Michael will be held Wednesday, January 15th, at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Exeter Animal Shelter, where Michael adopted many of the family pets and gave them a forever home with the Harrington family.
