Mervin H. Johnson, 70, of Pawtucket, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. A son of the late Charles and Mildred (Sekator) Johnson, Mervin was a longtime resident of Pawtucket.

Mervin was a drummer for the Narragansett tribe and got to travel all over New England drumming for different tribes. In his leisure time, Mervin enjoyed going to the beach to be by the water, visiting his relatives, and would often be found riding his bike through Narragansett and along Rt 138.

Mervin is survived by his former wife, Kathy Johnson-Mitchell; his son, Taeje Sekator Johnson of Smithfield, RI; his brother, Roger Johnson of Warwick, RI; his sister, Stacey Fernandes and her husband Philip of North Providence, RI; and his nieces, Kara Fernandes and Shawna Fernandes. He was the brother of the late Richard A. Johnson.

Arrangements are in the care of Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield, RI 02879. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
