Melody Hathaway-Carpenter

Melody Hathaway Carpenter, 68, of Wakefield passed away on Thursday, April 10th, at South County Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Wakefield, Rhode Island, she was the daughter of the late Mabel I. Hathaway.

Melody attended South Kingstown High School. She went on to work at APC and later became a cleaning professional working for Ragtime for many years.

Melody enjoyed spending time with many friends that were more like family to her. She was a giver and would go without, if one of her friends needed something. She would tell it like it was and people appreciated her directness.

Melody loved cars, especially her Buicks. She would frequently drive around to admire the changing foliage and the coast. She cherished all the many different animals that she adopted over the years including dogs, cats, birds and her horse, Vannie.

Melody leaves behind her son, Jamie Hathaway, and his wife, Erin, as well as her two grandchildren, Jonathan Hathaway and Vera Hathaway. She was predeceased by her best friend since childhood, Joyce Gregoire, who was more like a sister to her. She also leaves behind countless close friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 4-6 pm in Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St Wakefield.
