Maureen Tara Laffey Barratt

Maureen Tara Laffey Barratt, 60, of Wakefield passed away on August 13, 2013. Born in Woodstock IL, she was the daughter of Joseph Laffey of Narragansett and the late Mary Geraghty Laffey. She is survived by her son, Seth Joseph Kelly of Wakefield, his wife Sarah and their two children Anna and Conor. She is also survived by her siblings: Christine Pfeiffer of Exeter, Susan Oertle of Cranston, Michael Laffey of Santa Barbara CA, Karen DeSimone of Charleston, Charles Laffey of Stoughton MA, Tamara Sherer of Riverside, Col Thomas Laffey of San Antonio TX, and Mary Jo Viederman of Amherst MA. She was predeceased by her brother Timothy Mark Laffey. Maureen graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1978. During her career she was employed by Allen’s Nursing Home, The Visiting Nurses’ Association, and the medical offices of Dr. Paul Barratt. After her retirement as a nurse, Maureen continued to volunteer and provide services to the elderly and those in need. Maureen loved gardening, literature, art and music. She had a kind generous and gentle soul to those who knew her.
