Maryanne L. Grandolfi

Maryanne L. (Zannini) Grandolfi, 89, of Narragansett peacefully passed away at Elderwood of Scallop Shell Nursing Home on Saturday, June 29, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late George Grandolfi III. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Carmine Zannini and Mary (Cataldo) Tafuri. Maryanne was a 1947 graduate of South Kingstown High School, where she was a spirited cheerleader and editor of the yearbook. In 1951, she graduated from the RI College of Pharmacy and Allied Sciences, which is now the URI College of Pharmacy. Maryanne was licensed as a registered pharmacist, and she worked for many years at her family's business, South County Pharmacy. Besides her professional career, Maryanne was an avid bowler, who could often be seen at Old Mountain Lanes, and she took great pleasure in playing cards with friends. She also enjoyed swimming, flower gardening, volunteering at the Senior Center, and studying the bible. Unquestionably, her greatest love in life was her family, and she delighted in spending time with them. She leaves behind three sons, George P. Grandolfi and his wife Elaine of Voluntown, CT, Peter J. Grandolfi and his wife Deborah of Richmond, RI, Steven M. Grandolfi of North Kingstown, RI; a daughter, Paula M. Cascario and her husband Todd of Vernon, CT; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a loving sister, Ursula Salerno of Wakefield, and three half-brothers, John Zannini of Wyckoff, NJ, Richard Zannini of Buckeye, AZ, and Ronald Zannini of New Bedford, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 3, at 10 am at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Rd., Kingston, RI. Burial will be immediately following in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale, RI. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, July 2, from 5-8 pm at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the University of Rhode Island, Mary C. Tafuri Memorial Scholarship Fund. Checks should be mailed to the URI Foundation, P.O.
