Maryann Lanz

Lanz, Maryann (Ferraro) 66, of Narragansett, RI and Oakville, CT, passed Thursday, January 31, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved and devoted wife of Bob Lanz; loving mother of Robert J. Martone and his wife Kara of Saunderstown, Michael R. Martone and his wife Kristen of South Kingstown and Derek “DJ” Lanz of Boston, MA; loving “Meme” of Julia, Audrey, Katherine, Reid, Grace and Deegan Martone. She was the daughter of the late Matilda (Piccoli) Ferraro, and the sister of the late Carl Ferraro. Maryann’s greatest passion in life was her family and friends, which spanned 43 committed years of raising 3 sons and loving 6 grandchildren. She was the epitome of family, friendship and love. Her spirit and traditions will carry on forever. Maryann touched all of us with her unselfish and giving character – never asking for anything in return. You became part of her extended family just by showing up for a home-cooked meal. Her friendships ran long and deep, with strong commitments on all sides. She loved Narragansett beach, traveling the world with her family, cooking, knitting, and sitting by the fire with those she loved. In honor of Maryann’s wishes, the family invites all to attend a celebration of her life at the mass, burial and joyful reception at the Narragansett Towers overlooking Narragansett beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, 10:00 AM at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Rd., Narragansett. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. This celebration will continue at the Narragansett Towers, 35 Ocean Rd, Narragansett, RI – www.thetowersri.com – overlooking Narragansett Beach following the burial.
