Mary J. Thayer

Mary J. Thayer, 77, of East Greenwich, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Matilda (Gallo) Costanza. Mary was a United States Marine Veteran. She was the owner of the Wickford Diner for twenty-eight years before retiring. After retirement Mary worked as an associate for Walmart for twelve years. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her homemade chicken soup and corned beef hash. She was the mother of Cindy Duckworth (Ed) and Marsha Thayer; loving grandmother of Emily Thayer, Cassandra Cochrane, Zachary and Samuel Duckworth; great grandmother of Ryan Nobriga; sister of Vincent and Greg Costanza and the late Eugene Costanza. Visiting hours Friday, December 1, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial will be private.
