Mary E. Lynch

Mary E. (Hanewich) Lynch, 78, of Wakefield, formerly of Cumberland, passed away Saturday March 29, 2014 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with Heart Disease. She was the beloved wife of fifty-five years to Richard B. "Dick" Lynch. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Michael E. and Mary E. (Lester) Hanewich. Mary was a 1953 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Pawtucket and attended Rhode Island College. She worked at Amica Mutual Insurance until she had children and became a stay at home mother/housewife. When her children where all in school, Mary worked for the Cumberland School Department as a teacher assistant and the RI State Lunch Program. She was later employed at New England Health and Racquet Club in Woonsocket as a Food and Beverage Manager. Mary was a kind, generous and selfless person who believed it was better to give than to receive. Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Patricia E. Tweedie and her husband John, Terrence M. "Terry" Lynch and his wife Linda, Colleen M. Bodziony and her husband Kurt, and Maureen A. Gauthier and her husband Tom. She was the beloved Grammie to Cory Tweedie and the late Benjamin Tweedie, TJ and Taylor Lynch, Nicholas and Megan Bodziony, Matthew and Alyssa Gauthier. Mary was the sister of Harold "Chet" Hanewich and the late Michael D. Hanewich. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Marys Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett. Burial is Private. VISITING HOURS, Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Shrine of St. Jude, 205 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL 60606.
