Mary A. Daly, 92, of Wakefield, RI passed away on April 11 at the Scallop Shell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. For many years she resided in Warwick and later at the Peace Dale House. Born September 26,1922 in the Greenwood section of Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Jane (Beech) Wallis. During World War II she worked at the Davisville Naval Base in North Kingstown, and she met her husband Francis P. Daly, stationed at Quonset Naval Base, whom she married in 1945. He passed away in June 1968. She was also employed at A.T. Cross in Providence, Florida’s Banana River Air Station (now Cape Canaveral), Finn Finance in East Greenwich and the Tie Shop in Warwick. For many years she volunteered at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Warwick. With love and determination she raised seven children: Francis P. Daly Jr (Barbara Hunt) of Waldoboro, ME; Cheryl Daly of New York City; Joseph Daly (Angela Stanziano) of Narragansett and New Canaan, CT; Deborah Daly (William Turbitt) of Dublin, OH; James Daly (Susan Arnberg) of Chicago and Naples, FL; Joanne Daly (Guy Millick) of Narragansett; Mary Daly (Michael McMahon) of Kingston. She also is survived by fifteen loving grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters Doris Drew of East Greenwich and Elizabeth Henshall of Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road in Kingston on Friday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday, April 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Insight of Rhode Island or the American Heart Association.
