Mary L.(McMahon) Cummings, 88, formerly of Peace Dale House, passed away Sunday July 11, 2010. She was the wife of James E. Cummings of Narragansett for almost 68 years. Born in Warren, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Hawley) McMahon. They raised their four sons in the Mount Pleasant area of Providence, later moving to Warwick, where she worked as a housekeeper at West Bay Manor for many years. A resident of Peace Dale House for twenty-five years, Mary was well known for her talent as a seamstress. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and enjoyed puzzles, knitting, sewing and was an avid Red Sox fan. Besides her husband she leaves four sons, Jim and his wife Barbara of West Kingston, Brian and Dorothy of Charlestown, Mike and his wife Kelly of Narragansett and John and Sal of Clearwater, FL; a sister Eileen Langlois of Peace Dale House; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was sister of the late William McMahon, Lil Armstrong, Henrietta Weed and Susan McMahon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00 AM in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting Hours Thursday 4-7 PM in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to MS Society, 205 Hallene Rd., Warwick, RI 02886.
