Mary F. (Nugent) Doyle Carty, 88, of Narragansett, peacefully passed away at her home. She was the wife of the late Thaddeus R. Doyle and the late Michael W. Carty. Born in Providence a daughter of the late Dr. Harry F. Nugent and Kathleen M. (Cotter) Nugent. Mrs. Carty was a school teacher for Exeter-West Greenwich School System for 39 years before retiring in 1988. A graduate of St. Xavier Academy, she earned a BS from the Catholic Teachers College, a Masters in education from Boston University and a Masters in special education from R.I. College. She was a former Sister of Mercy, teaching at the Holy Redeemer School and Principal at St. Isabella School in Belize, the Tyler School in Providence, St. James School in West Warwick, and St. Charles School in Woonsocket. She also was a volunteer at Smith’s Castle, the Narragansett Youth Task Force, San Miguel School in Providence and directress of Project Assist. She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Mary Nugent of Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christian Brothers Chapel, 630 Ocean Rd., Narragansett on Monday, December 28, 2015, at 10am. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
