Mary Campbell

Mary (Hodde) Campbell, 89, of Narragansett, RI, passed away peacefully on November 10th, 2025, in Wakefield, RI. Daughter of the late Joseph L. Hodde and Mary J. (Heaton), Wife of the late Norman A. Campbell. She is survived by her 3 children Debra Rugg and her husband, John, Linda Carver and her husband, Robert, and Michael Campbell and his wife Joyce, 9 grandchildren: Kristin and her husband, Nick, Alison, Samantha, Catherine, Kayla, Diana, Kyrie, Leia & Christian. As well as her two great grandchildren Sage & Wren.

Mary graduated from Bryant University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. She was a pillar in the Girl Scouts of Southern New England community for over 60 years. During her time with Girl Scouts, she served as a troop leader, junior consultant, neighborhood & district chair member, also a part of the recognition and museum committee and board of directors. She proudly took on the role as the Camp Hoffman business manager & founded their friendship gift shop! Mary also spent many years running the neighborhood cookie cupboard in Southgansett, where she was famously known by many as "the cookie lady."

Mary also played a role in the Rhode Island Pharmacy community alongside her husband Norman. She was awarded the URI College of Pharmacy Treasurer and Auxiliary to the American Pharmacists Association award, for her continuing dedicated service in support of pharmacy in 1985. She was a dedicated member of Saint Thomas More Parish in Narragansett, RI.

Mary had a love for all things reading, travel, family and music. She was a gifted classical pianist, which only few had the pleasure of listening to her play. She really enjoyed musicals including her favorites Fiddler on the Roof, The Sound of Music & Mary Poppins. Her family has so many fond memories of sitting around the TV or record player listening to her favorite tunes. Mary was very creative and loved working with her hands. For decades she made her children and grandchildren's Halloween costumes & baked her family members birthday cakes with the best frosting anyone had ever tasted.

Mary had the best laugh, positive demeanor, infectious smile and gave the best hugs. She was an incredibly supportive mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, friend & godmother. She will be deeply missed by many.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18th from 9-10am at Avery-Storti Funeral Home 88 Columbia St. Wakefield, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 18th at 11am at Saint Thomas More Church 53 Rockland St. Narragansett, RI.

In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate donations being made to Girl Scouts of Southern New England or Rhode Island Alzheimer's Association.
