Mary M. Cahir, 88, of Narragansett, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Born in Providence, Rhode Island on September 30, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Kathleen E. (Mullen) McCaffrey.

Mary was the beloved wife of the late Thomas "Dick" A. Cahir, with whom she shared 41 wonderful years of marriage. A devoted member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was active on the parish council. Her faith and dedication to her church community were an important part of her life.

Mary worked as a legal secretary in a law office for many years, where she was respected for her professionalism and kindness. Outside of work, she enjoyed spending winters in Sarasota, Florida and especially loved golfing at Imperial Lakes Golf Club, where she was once a club champion. Mary treasured time with family above all else and was known for putting family first in everything she did.

She is survived by her sister, Kathleen E. Clossick; ten nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Rose Tedeschi and Ann Beaupre, and her nephew, Michael Tedeschi.

Calling hours will be held from 10 - 11 AM on Tuesday, June 2nd in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett, RI. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated immediately following at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 S. County Trail, Exeter, RI.
