Mary Sciabarrasi Burchard

Mary A. (Cucchiara) Sciabarrasi Burchard, 96 years, of Wakefield, died on January 7, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 20, 1926 in Fitchburg, MA. She was one of 13 children of the late Paul and Antonina (Sala) Cucchiara.

She was the wife of the late Samuel Sciabarrasi and the late Jack Burchard of Florida. A very active woman, Mary loved playing golf and ballroom dancing; playing cards with friends and family; and being very innovative in the kitchen, where her guests were treated to one of her culinary creations.

Mary lived in Leominster, MA for many years, raising a family of 7 children. She is survived by her children, Frances Alexakos and husband Britt Bell of Wakefield, RI; Antonina Greenwood and husband David, of Palmetto, FL; Sandra Willhauck and husband Robert, of Wakefield, RI; Luigi Sciabarrasi and wife Jean, of Agoura Hilla, CA; Paula Kalagher, and husband John, of Fitchburg, MA; and Samuel Sciabarrasi, and wife Ina, of Wakefield, RI. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Greici of Leominster, MA; as well as 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mary was predeceased by her daughter, Maria Croteau (the late husband Leo).

A Memorial Mass will be held for Mary on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road in Kingston. Internment will take place at New Fernwood Cemetery in Kingston, followed by a reception at Christ the King Church Hall.
