Mary M. Bacon, 57, of Wakefield, Rhode Island, and formerly of Hampden, Massachusetts, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Scott P. Bacon. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, she was a daughter of Angie (Colapinto) McLaughlin of Somers, Connecticut, and the late Robert McLaughlin. Besides her husband and her mother, she leaves two daughters, Ashley Martins of Somers and Morgan Bacon of South Windsor, Connecticut; her son-in-law, Stephen Martins; her grandson, Wesley Martins; a brother, Joseph McLaughlin, and his fiance, Cynthia Caliento, of Somers; her sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Ralph Williams of Somers; and five nieces, Elizabeth Kieras of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, Anna Williams of Arlington, Virginia, Eve Hurley of Hebron, Connecticut, Ursula Williams of State College, Pennsylvania, and Rebekah Vick of Enfield, Connecticut. She was predeceased by her father and a brother, Thomas McLaughlin. The greatest joys of Marys life were her two daughters, Ashley and Morgan and her grandson, Wesley. She spent most of her undergraduate education studying Art History at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. She acquired a love of French and Italian art and reconnected with her mothers Italian relatives in Latina, Italy. She then went on to receive her Masters Degree in Education and taught French for many years. She was grateful for the time off during the summer months when she could continue her love of travel. She was devoted to her parents and loved her golden retrievers, Cassie and Beau. She and Scott recently retired to the beach, and her favorite thing to do was to walk the South County beaches with her rescue dog, Lucca. She was always aware of the beauty around her and taught her children to embrace the value of time. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Those who knew her will remember her for her vivacious personality, spontaneity, "luminous" vocabulary, and love of lattes and yoga. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Marys name may be made to: The Charlotte Fund,University of Vermont Cancer Center, University of Vermont College of Medicine Development Office, 89 Beaumont Ave., Courtyard at Given South Burlington, VT 05405.
