Martin James Nelle

Martin J. Nelle, 76, former Mayor of the Laplante Center, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and caregivers at Avatar Group Home in Woonsocket, RI. Martin was the son of the late Charles and Josephine Nelle. He is survived by his brother Charles (Bea), nieces Pat, Joanne (George), Cindy (Mark), great nieces and nephews, Mandy (Cris), Markie, Allysa, Casey (Cory), Jaimme, Georgie, and 2 great great nieces and nephews, Abby, and Charlie.

He was born in Wakefield, RI, on April 12, 1947. Martin lived with Bob and the late Becka Brown for 30 years. He was an avid participant in the Special Olympics and a superfan of the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins.

The family would like to thank his second family, the caregivers at Avatar Group Home in Woonsocket, and special thanks to Hope Hospice for the incredible end of life care they provided. Funeral and Burial will be private.
