Martha Towne Riley, 65, of Wakefield, died Saturday. She was the beloved wife of Roy Riley. Born in Biddeford, Maine, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Marcella (Hassett) Towne. Martha was the owner of Profile Publishing and authored a children’s’ book entitled “Ayah. The Maine Moose” and she previously had worked at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Her hobbies included playing the guitar, reading and writing poetry, swimming, going to the beach, she was the family historian, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her family will miss her sense of humor and the practical jokes she enjoyed playing on them. Besides her husband, she is survived by five sons; Leo Chavez of Washington, Matthew Chavez of Warwick, Andrew Chavez of MA, John Paul Chavez of Virginia, and Thomas Chavez of South Kingstown; five grandchildren, Matthew Chavez Jr., Rachel Chavez, Mia Chavez, Andrew Chavez, Jr., and Grace Chavez; five siblings, Patricia Graffam of Kennebunk, ME, Michael Towne of Alfred, ME, William Towne, Jr. of Portland, ME, John Towne of Waterville, ME, and Maureen Towne of Kennebunk, ME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Friday in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Thursday, 5-7 pm.
