Marjorie F. Orme

Marjorie F. Orme, 81, of Narragansett, RI, and Naples, Fl, died peacefully Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at her Narragansett home. She was the beloved wife of William A. Orme and mother of William A. Orme Jr. of Brooklyn, NY; Mary Jane Orme of Wakefield, MA; Nancy K. Martini of Concord, CA; Sally R. Orme of Cambridge, MA; Betsy O’N. Orme of Concord, CA; Joanne T. Orme of Trumbull, CT; Michael C. Orme of San Francisco, CA; and Carolyn L. Penkrat of Marblehead, MA. She is also survived by three sisters, Nancy Poutray of Tiverton, RI; Huberta Kapowich of Sunnyvale, CA; and Pauline Anderson of Palmdale, CA; twelve nieces and nephews, twelve grandchildren, and a wide circle of other relatives and friends who cherished her dearly. The daughter of Edgar and Hilda (Caulfield) Higgins of Cranston, RI, Marjorie graduated from Cranston High in 1944, married her husband William in 1950, and raised eight children in Rhode Island and Connecticut. She loved living on the seashore and traveling the world, while charming everyone she met. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 AM in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Rd., Narragansett. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 PM in the AVERY-STORTI Funeral home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI.
