Marion A. Johnston (Steadman), 95, of Exeter, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at home. She was the wife of the late Herbert Johnston. Born in Richmond, a daughter of the late Thomas Steadman, Sr. Mrs. Johnston was employed by the State of Rhode Island Dept. of M.H.R.H. for many years before retiring. She was a member of the V.F.W. Post 12 Ladies Auxillary and the Rhody Rovers. She is survived by her children, Joyce L. Hooper of Alabama, Stanly Whitford and his wife Constance of Exeter, Robert A. Whitford and his wife Patricia of Exeter, William L. Whitford and his wife Frances of Exeter and Richard D. Whitford and his wife Linda of Dumont, NJ; four step-children, Lonnie, Brian, Kirt and Kent Johnston; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was the step-mother of the late Scott Johnston. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016, 11 am– 1 pm followed by a funeral service at 1 pm in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
