Marilyn D. (Munsch) Rak, 87, of South Kingstown died peacefully on September 15th in her home with her family. Born in Woonsocket, RI, she was the daughter of Charles and Mildred (Maloney) Munsch. Marilyn was married for 59 years to her late beloved husband, Walter “Mickey” Rak. Marilyn and Walter were married in 1958 in Cumberland, RI. Marilyn was the loving mother of her beloved daughters Kathleen (James) Levy, and Kerrie Lyn Haskell both of South Kingstown and her only cherished grandchild Ryan Levy of South Kingstown. She is also survived by her niece Susan (John) Wilding of Sidney, Ohio and nephew Robert (Rosemary) Rak of Fall River, MA and their families. She was the sister of the late Charles Munsch and Mildren (Munsch) Panu.
Marilyn graduated from Bristol Community College and was a registered nurse at St. Annes hospital and then Edgehill Newport for many years. Marilyn and Walter lived and raised their family in Portsmouth, RI before moving to Florida in their retirement. They enjoyed many years living first in Cape Coral, Florida and then Fort Myers, Florida before Marilyn returned to RI and built a home in South Kingstown in 2020. Marilyn enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking and decorating her home throughout her life. During her years in Florida, she participated in many social clubs including boating, book, welcome committees, volunteering and were members of St. John 23rd Catholic Church in Florida. Together Marilyn and Mickey enjoyed traveling and cruises, especially during their time in Florida.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 10:00 am in Christ the King Church,180 Old North Rd, Kingston, RI 02881. The family will receive visitors following the Mass.
