Marie E. LaRocque, 85, of South Kingstown, and formerly of Cumberland, passed away on Monday, March 28. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond W. LaRocque and is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Raymond S. and Anne Marie LaRocque of Westerly, and daughter and son-in-law Linda S. and David LaBrie of Wakefield. Born in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Beatrice (Lajoie) Messier. Mrs. LaRocque was a seamstress for many years and enjoyed knitting, camping and golfing. After retiring, she and her late husband moved to Florida for 20 years, returning to Narragansett in 2005. She will be remembered as a loyal friend, great listener and teacher of many crafts, but most of all as a loving grandmother to Aimee, Ryan, Melanie, Jeffrey, Danielle and Renee, and great-grandmother to Andrew, Christopher, Sarah and Zoe. She also leaves two brothers, Eugene Messier of Arizona and Hector Messier of Florida, and three sisters, Blanche Vercilone of Florida, Claire Hall of South Kingstown and Lucille Tremblay of Charlestown. She was predeceased by her brother Roland Messier of Central Falls, and sister, Loretta Donais of California. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, April 6th at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Road, Narragansett. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of RI, South Team, 143 Main Street, Wakefield, RI 02879.
