Marie E. Flynn, 99, of Narragansett, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 20th at South County Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Providence, RI on May 19,1924 to her loving parents, the late Giacinto and Vincenzina (DeStefano) Ricci. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank A. Flynn for 45 years until his death in 1991.
Marie served in the US Army during World War II, of which she was extremely proud. She was a member of the Narragansett and South Kingstown Senior Centers where she loved to play bingo. However, her true love was baking. She was an extraordinary baker and on any given day you would find her in the kitchen from dawn to dusk baking for her family and friends especially at Christmas time. Another one of Marie’s favorite things to do was to play the lottery. She loved her scratch tickets and she always had one in her purse whether she got it as a gift from someone or one she bought herself.
Marie is survived by her daughter Leslie M. Davis and her husband Mark with whom she made her home and her son Gary F. Flynn and his wife Deborah of South Kingstown. Marie is also the proud grandmother of Gregory Flynn, Mackenzie Davis, David Cookson, Jonathan Cookson and Priscilla Stiles.
