Marian P. Bowers, 80, passed away on Thursday, July 18th with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late William A. Bowers III.
Born in Providence, Marian was the daughter of the late George Fales and Violet Ruth (Usher) Peirce.
Marian was a 1962 graduate of East Providence High School and a 1966 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Home Economics. She was a URI Ramette and a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, remaining active with the sorority for many years. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She worked at University Spirit at the University of Rhode Island for more than 20 years and was a member of Kingston Congregational Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed her aerobics and caning classes, tending to her yard and garden, and time with her best friends from her childhood Girl Scout Troop. She was grateful for her vacations with friends and family to Hog Island and Lake Wentworth.
Marian is survived by her children Julie Previte and her husband Derek, William P. Bowers and his wife Leslie; her cherished grandchildren Jillian and Courtney Previte, and Mason and Aubrey Bowers; and her brother Ray Peirce and his wife Patricia as well as many nieces and nephews.
A later date will be set for Marian's memorial service. Family and friends will be notified with the details once they are finalized. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery in a private ceremony.
