Maria C. Rossi

Maria C. Rossi, 65, of Wakefield, and formerly of Newport, died Sunday. Maria was the wife of Robert W. Rossi for 23 years. Born in San Miguel, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Barella) Creador. Mrs. Rossi was a certified nursing assistant for many years at both St. Claire’s and Catherine Manor Nursing Homes in Newport. Maria was a very kind and compassionate person who enjoyed her work with the elderly and also her later career as a Hairstylist/Beautician. She will be remembered for her caring and generosity to several non-profit agencies. Besides her husband, Maria is survived by her son Kenneth Bailey of Boston, MA; two daughters, Lona Bailey Taber (Scott) of Virginia, Elizabeth Bailey Johnson (Robb) of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Adam, Matthew, Madeline and Allison, all of Virginia; two brothers, Joseph Creador of Somerset, MA and Michael Creador of Newport; an Aunt, Olivia (Barella) Oliveira of Newport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Greenwich. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Thursday, 5-7 PM.
