Margaret R. Kenyon, 81, of West Kingston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, December 20, 2024. She was the wife of the late Frederick Kenyon, Jr. Born in North Kingstown, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Bertha (Tingley) North.
Margaret devoted her life to her family, helping to run the family dairy farm with her husband for over 35 years while spending quality time with her children and grandchildren whom she adored and cared for daily. She was an accomplished musician playing the bassoon with the RI Youth Philharmonic. She later discovered her talent for painting and captured beautiful landscapes, lighthouses and flowers using a variety of media including saw blades. Several pieces of Margaret’s art decorate the homes of her family and friends. Margaret also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, hosting knit nights with her friends. She was also well known for her cooking, gardening and a dry sense of humor.
She was the mother of Peter F. Kenyon and his wife Jane, Holly K. Burdett and her husband John and Caroline A. Kenyon, grandmother of Peter Kenyon Jr, Anna Gardner and her husband George, Megan (Erica) and Samuel Kenyon, Lorna Burdett and Conor Burdett, great grandmother of George, Gracelyn, Ryan and Gabriel Gardner, and best friend to Pryscilla Anderson for nearly 60 years.
Her family would like to acknowledge Anna Gardner for being our family's daily care coordinator for Margaret. Anna's daily assistance was a true blessing that enabled our family to continue Margaret's care at home. Hope Hospice CNAs Kathy, Mary and Barbara who lovingly cared for Margaret, and always made her smile and treated her with great dignity and respect. Hope Hospice RN Wendy. Wendy always made herself available to our family to answer any question and to provide assistance in times of need.
A funeral home service will take place for Margaret will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 1:30 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 5 to 7 PM.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hope Hospice Rhode Island.
