Margaret Marie “Magie” Daniels Cannon passed away peacefully on Saturday evening in Westerly, RI at the age of 66 due to complications from Dementia. Magie was born in Buffalo, NY to Beverly and Henry Hess.
Magie grew up in a military family, attending school in NY, CA, and HI. She graduated in 1976 from Waipahu High School in Waipahu, HI. Magie continued to travel across the US after graduating high school. In March of 1980, Magie moved to little Rhode Island where she fell in love with both the beaches of southern RI and the musicians of Providence. Mutual friends introduced Magie to her now ex-husband, Paul, who blessed her with two daughters, Amy and Sarah.
Magie was a Rhode Island resident for nearly 45 years, always living as close to the beach as possible. She made many friends who would describe her as spirited, kind, and always looking for the good in others. Magie was a painter who enjoyed historic and antique preservation of homes and furniture. She had a deep love for nature, animals, and her daughters. Magie started her daughter Amy’s horse obsession from the moment she was born, always stopping to look at the horses on their outings. At the ages of 12 and 14, the girls started horseback riding lessons that Magie would work off when she didn’t have the money. She always did everything she could for her girls.
Magie is survived by her granddaughters Sophie and Madeleine Cannon, daughter Amy Cannon and her fiancé Ryan Randle, daughter Sarah Cannon, brother James Daniels and his wife Carol, sister Brenda Paquin and her husband Marc, sister Leslie Byrd and her husband Jeff, brother Paul Daniels and his wife Diana, parents Beverly and David Daniels, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by many furry friends whom we are certain greeted her at the gates of heaven.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, February 15th, 2025, from 1-4pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, with a funeral service immediately following at 4pm. In honor of Magie and her family, attendees are encouraged to bring copies of cherished photos they would like to share.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Potter League for Animals on their website at the following address: https://give.potterleague.org/
