Margaret “Peggy” Benoit, 68, of South Kingstown, passed away on February 7, 2022. Born and raised in Richmond, Rhode Island, Margaret was the loving daughter of the late Melvin and Blanche Lamphere and beloved granddaughter of the late Blanche Baker. In her early years, Margaret graduated from Chariho High School and attended the University of Rhode Island. She worked at RIClass for many years before pursuing a job as a cook by working at Applebee’s and attending a chief course at the Food Bank. She also worked at Belmont Market in Wakefield for a period of time. Margaret was kindhearted woman who would do anything for anybody. She had a love for nature and animals always making time to take the dogs for long walk in Nitagret Park in Charlestown. Her family and friends also remember her as a great debater. Margaret is survived by her daughter Cynthia Benoit, siblings; Joseph and Theresa Lamphere, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is pre-deceased by Meridith Gardiner. A graveside service will be held for Margaret on Wednesday, June 22nd at 10:30 in White Brook Cemetery on Pine Hill Rd in Richmond.
