Marcia M. Miller

Marcia M. Miller, 75, of Wakefield, passed away Thursday August 2nd. She was the beloved wife of the late Dexter Pierce Miller, Sr. and daughter of the late William H. Moore, Jr. and Waite (Nye) Moore of North Kingstown. Mrs. Miller was an Administrative Secretary for the South Kingstown School Department for over 34 years before retiring. She worked for the High School during that time, and everyone remembers Mrs. Miller in the front office and guidance office. She knew the students, parents and families of 29 graduating classes, and took great pride in being a well-known and supportive member of our community. She was also a member of the South Kingstown Elks Lodge and enjoyed spending Friday nights there with her best friends. Upon retirement, the same group of women would gather daily at Bagelz in Wakefield for coffee and breakfast where they would chat about family and their plans for the day. She enjoyed traveling in New England with family and friends. In earlier years she would travel to Maine to visit her middle son and his family at Sunday River and in Portland. However, recently she really preferred to stay close to home and socialize with her friends. She loved simply sitting on her back porch watching the hummingbirds come to her feeder. Her eldest and youngest sons were close by to help her with anything she needed and she was a loving supportive mother. She is survived by three sons, Dexter P. Miller, Jr. of Exeter, Todd W. Miller of South Portland, ME, and Stephen P. Miller and his wife Janis of Wakefield,; six grandchildren; Lindsay P. Adams, Ryan Randle, Garrett P. Miller, Sara Miller, Evan Miller, and Lydia Miller; a brother William Moore of Charlestown; a niece, Erin Moore and grand niece Emma of Coventry; as well as many cousins. A funeral service was held at 10 am Tuesday at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Visiting hours were held Monday, 4-7 pm.
