Manuel A. Simoes, 83, of South Kingstown and formerly of Cumberland, passed away Wednesday. He was the beloved husband of the late Filomena (Leal) Simoes. Born in the Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel R. and Maria (Augusto) Simoes, and he came to Rhode Island in 1953 at the age of 19. He is survived by two daughters, Ana LeGoff of Wakefield, and Cecilia Francis of Coventry; four grandchildren, Joshua, Brittany, Nicole, and Ryan; two great granddaughters; and two brothers, Roger Simoes of Florida and Albert Simoes of New Hampshire. He was predeceased by his sister Maria Raposo and a son-in-law Mark LeGoff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Monday, 5-7 pm.
