Madeline F. (Izzo) Alves, 80, of Narragansett, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Joseph H. Alves. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, She was the daughter of the late Edward L. and Lucy (Marine) Izzo. Mrs. Alves worked in data entry for the University of Rhode Island for eighteen years. She was also co-owner with her husband of Joe’s Hot Dogs in Narragansett for many years. A choir member and communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, she enjoyed traveling, cooking and charitable donations. She was a saint on earth who always gave freely putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She was the loving mother of Joseph Alves, Jeff Alves and the late James Alves; loving grandmother of Julie, Jennifer and Jeffrey Alves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Rd., Narragansett. Burial will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
