Mabel E. Dimon, 85, of Wakefield, died at home Sunday, following a long illness. Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Essex) Dimon. Miss. Dimon was a sales clerk at Woolworth’s Department Store for many years. She was active with Seniors Helping Others and the garden club at the South Kingstown Senior Center. In her spare time she enjoyed woodworking, bowling and taking care of stray cats. She is survived by a sister, Doris Clark of Wakefield; two nephews, George Briggs, Jr. and Timothy Briggs; a niece, Charlene Gardner; as well as several cousins. She was the aunt of the late David Briggs. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in New Fernwood Cemetery, Kingston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
