Luther M. Freethy, 87, of Narragansett, died Friday. He was the husband of the late Mary L. (McPhillips) Freethy. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Luther C. and Caroline (Dunn) Freethy. Mr. Freethy was a W.W. II Coast Guard Veteran. He loved working on the water for many years as a Yacht Captain, Tug Boat Captain and as the first Harbor Master of Narragansett. He was a member of the South Kingstown Elks and Hope Lodge. He leaves daughters, Carol J. Smith of Narragansett and Maryann Reposa of Wakefield; grandchildren, Roland B. Smith III, Clarke A. Reposa Jr. and Rebecca Monahon and great grandson Brendan Reposa. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7 PM.
