Lucy Ann Gidley

Lucy Ann Gidley (Manchester) 90, of South Kingstown, RI passed away peacefully on Monday October 13, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Norman A. Gidley for 47 years. She was born January 5, 1924 in New Bedford, MA, daughter of the late Carl E. and Florence H. (Thatcher) Manchester. She is the sister of Joyce Huffines and the late Judy Miller. She is survived by her four children, Norman A. Gidley and wife Linda (St Thomas, USVI), Susan Holland and husband Richard ( South Kingstown, RI), Leigh Buliung and husband Jonathan (Laconia, NH), and Carl E. Gidley and wife Deborah (South Dartmouth, Ma), 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Lucy grew up in South Dartmouth, MA and married her high school sweetheart. She was active in her community involved with garden club, crafts, PTA, antiquing and scouting. Lucy was a talented gardener, especially loving her orchids. She loved to sew and treasured her time traveling. She was happiest being a mom and spending time with her children and family, but overall she was most content on her beautiful Water Island.
