Louise Babcock
Wedlock
October 10, 1938 – April 29, 2026
Louise Babcock Wedlock, age 87, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering faith, service, and love for others.
Born on October 7, 1938 in Cranston, RI, Louise lived a life marked by resilience, compassion, and a deep commitment to community.
She raised her family with strength and devotion. Guided by her heart for young people, she founded a group home for teenagers, offering care, stability, and hope to those in need. She later started a small local bakery, sharing not only her talents but also her warmth with everyone who walked through the door.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. She gave generously of her time as a hospice volunteer and as a nursing home chaplain, bringing comfort, prayer, and presence to those nearing life's end. She also led regular Bible studies with women, creating spaces of encouragement, growth, and deep connection.
More than anything, Louise had a gift for investing in people. She listened without judgment, encouraged with sincerity, and challenged others to grow in faith and character. Many were touched by her wisdom, kindness, and steadfast belief in the goodness of God. She was a previous member and deaconess at the First Baptist Church of Narragansett, RI and a current member of Eliot Baptist Church, Eliot, ME.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, John Wedlock, children John Wedlock,Jr and Amy (Wedlock) Morrell, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who will carry forward her legacy of faith and love. She was preceded in death by her son, Mark Wedlock.
While her passing leaves a deep void, her family and friends find peace in knowing she is now at rest in the presence of the Lord she served so faithfully. Her life stands as a testament to the power of faith in action.
