Louis J. Valois, 91, of Narragansett, departed this life on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018 after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Ellen T. (Rainville) Valois. Born in Manville, RI, he was the son of the late Joseph and Blandine Valois. Lou graduated from Mount St. Charles Academy in Woonsocket, RI. He served as a Technical Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII, and then went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State (College) University in Angola, Indiana. He had a long and successful career as a CEO of several companies. Lou was honored by the Rhode Island State House with an Outstanding Volunteer Achievement Award for more than a decade of devotion as a proud volunteer Pond Watcher in monitoring Salt Pond, reporting on pollution and preserving the salt pond ecosystem. He was a faithful member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Narragansett. Lou loved to sail, take daily walks with his wife, and was an avid fisherman, reader and excellent cook. An admirer of Warren Buffets investment philosophy, he shared his investment insights with other interested parties. He was very fond of mechanical experimentation and in this endeavor, his brave and faithful assistant was his son-in-law Steve. He was also supported by the big-hearted humor and patience of his son-in-law Mac, who shared his love of bird watching and fish stories. His love for children was evidence in his patience and enthusiasm in responding to their questions and learning needs. Survivors: Wife: Ellen T.
