Louis P. Legris, 88, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 18, 2018. He was the devoted husband of the late M. Paula Legris. Born in West Warwick, he was the son of the late Dr. Louis J. A. and Beatrice R. (Joubert) Legris. Louis is survived by his loving sister, Beatrice V. Legris. A true man of family, Louis leaves five children Michelle McCormack (Jim), Paul Legris (Barb), Charlie Legris (Jeanne), Jim Legris (Ellen), and Nicole Jeanotte (Joe). He was the beloved Gramps to seven grandchildren Matthew (Jenna), Bryan, and Kate McCormack, Ryan and Brandon Legris, and Phillip and Margaret Jeanotte. Louis was a proud graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy, Providence College and Rhode Island College, where he earned a Masters in Education. He was a dedicated and popular teacher in the North Kingstown School Department for 32 years and also worked part-time at Rhode Island Hospital. He and Paula raised their family on Apple Tree Court in North Kingstown and were communicants of St. Francis de Sales. Louis was an active member of the Elks, the American Legion, and the Firemans Club. He was an avid golfer, a long- time Boston Red Sox fan ("How do you like that?"), and frequented many "superb" restaurants throughout Rhode Island. Louis family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Brightview Commons (Wakefield) for their kindness, care, and compassion these last few years. Louis funeral will begin on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 9 AM from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM at St Francis of Assisi, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Cemetery, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that random acts of kindness be done in Louis memory.
