Lloyd L "Luke" Whaley, 83, of South Kingstown, passed away at home on Sunday, December 23, 2018. He was the husband of Elaine M. (Molloy) Whaley for 61 years. Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Marion (McElhaney) Whaley English. Luke was the owner of W.W. Landsurveyors for over 20 years before retiring. He also worked for Ray Schwab for many years, was a driver for Kenyon Ave Floral Co. and was a longtime volunteer firefighter on the South Kingstown Forest Fire Department. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Besides his wife he is survived by his children Lloyd T. "Lukie" Whaley, Lance E. Whaley and his wife Kathy, Linda E. Sweet and her husband Greg, and Lora Petrichko and her husband Eric all of South Kingstown; grandchildren James and Jalyn Campanini, Zachary Petrichko, Ashley and Thomas Graham, Morgan, Brett, and Colby Whaley; great-grandchildren Abagail and Sergio; siblings Marion Johnson and her husband George of Bellingham, WA, and Elizabeth Fox of Ankeny, IA. He was predeceased by his siblings Shirley Roy and F. Owen Whaley. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 10am in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, South Kingstown. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 3-6pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations in Lukes name may be made to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904, or Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
