Lillian Doherty

Lillian Margaret Kathinka (Jacobsen) Doherty, 94, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. She was the beloved wife of Joseph J. Doherty. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Jakob Martin Jacobsen and Lillien Cora Cathinka (Oveland) Jacobsen. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. She is survived by her daughters Kathleen A. Sweeny and Renee Kroll; step-daughter Eileen Doherty; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Thomas (TJ) Sweeny, Lindsay Dragoo, Vicki Olivo, Dion Hinnant, Jillian Doherty, Rhonda Bayes and Stephen Kroll; sister Esther Jacobsen; and numerous great-grandchildren. Visiting hours will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 12-1pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, South Kingstown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, South Team, 143 Main St, Wakefield, RI, 02879.
