Leroy Smalley

Leroy L. Smalley, 76, of Stoney Fort Rd., died Thursday. He was the husband of Beverly A. (Norman) Smalley, they were married for 52 years. Born in Gay Head, MA, he was the son of the late Alonzo and Edna (Belain) Smalley. Mr. Smalley worked at Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics for many years before retiring and was a security supervisor for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He was an elder and proud member of the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe. Mr. Smalley was a gifted mason and enjoyed riding through South County admiring the beauty of the stone walls, many of which he rebuilt. He loved the ocean and his trusted English Lab Gus. Besides his wife he leaves a son Jay Smalley and his wife Millicent of Martha’s Vineyard; a daughter in law Dale Smalley of Narragansett; a brother Paul Smalley of Mt. Olive, NC; grandchildren, Shaun, Tiffany, Faith and Zachary Smalley. He was father of the late Keith Smalley. The funeral will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in the AVERY-STORTI Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Visiting hours Sunday 3-6 PM.
