Leonard W. Boera

Leonard William Boera, 91, of South Road, Wakefield, died Thursday. He was the husband of Jean (Castelluccio) Boera; they would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on October 11th. Born in New York, NY, he was a son of the late Casimir and Gertrude (Hahn) Boera. Mr. Boera was a police officer of the City of New York for many years, retiring in the 1970’s. After retiring he worked for John Hancock Insurance and ran a successful catering business co-owned with his son on Long Island, known as An-Len Catering. Mr. Boera served in the United States Coast Guard during WW II. He had traveled extensively with his wife and was a lover of the outdoors, where he enjoyed, hunting, fishing and boating. Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Janet Holloran of Napanoch, NY, Andrew Boera of Largo, Florida, and Celeste Long of Wakefield, seven grand children and eleven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Monday at 1:00 PM in the Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield.
