Len Cannon, 78, of Coventry and formerly of South Kingstown passed away Friday, December 20, 2013 at South County Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sylvia (Fricker) Cannon for 54 years; father of Michael Cannon, Elizabeth Charron and her husband Joseph, and the late Christopher Cannon; grandfather of Joseph Charron, Jr., Savannah Charron, Samantha Cannon, Brian Cannon, Alex Charron, Nicholas Charron, Liam Cannon, and Colby Charron; great-grandfahter of Melissa Faith. Len was born in Manchester, England and survived the six years of the Second World War. He was educated at Xaverian College an English Catholic School, until his 18th birthday, on which he joined the British Army and a volunteer. He joined a front line infantry regiment “XX The Lancashire Fusiliers” as Fusilier, Corporal, finishing up as a Drill Sergeant. He served both King George VI and then Queen Elizabeth in Italy, Austria, Malta and the U.K. Len was an outstanding salesman and marketing innovator. He was a member of the British Institute of Marketing and Wharton School of Economics. He ran sales and marketing courses in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, France, Switzerland, U.K. and USA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield. Burial will be private. Visiting hours Friday, December 27, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield.
