Lane W. Newquist, 70, of Peace Dale, died Tuesday at home. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Bell) Newquist for 47 years. Born in Chicago, IL, he was a son of the late Wesley and Ruth (Fagerstrom) Newquist. Mr. Newquist, a retired attorney, was an accomplished photographer, a longtime member of the Photographic Society of RI, serving as president twice, and a member of many other photography clubs. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and was a member of Christ the King Church in Kingston, where he was active as a Stephen Minister. Surviving besides his wife are five children, Sheila R. Turner and her husband John of North Kingstown, Michael L. Newquist and his wife Anne of Attleboro, MA, Brian C. Newquist of Boston, MA, Matthew D. Newquist and his wife Lori of Richmond, VA, and Daniel A. Newquist of Georgetown, SC; six grandchildren, Chelsea Warner, Abby Turner, Anna Newquist, Mia Newquist, Lydia Turner, and Ethan Newquist; four sisters; Lyn Dorenzo of Chico, CA, Karen Sullivan of Santa Barbara, CA, Noreen Doyle of Escondido, CA and Nancy Nolan of Santa Barbara, CA; two brothers, Dana Newquist of Santa Barbara, CA and Don Newquist of Camarillo, CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 AM in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Friday 5-8 PM.
