Kyle Kristen Shovlin, 42, of Washington DC, passed away on Tuesday, June 11th in Fairfax, Virginia, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Kyle was born in Warwick, RI, to Mark and Sherry Shovlin on April 30, 1982. She grew up in Narragansett, RI, and graduated from Virginia Tech University. Kyle started her professional career working for a Cambridge Biotech Firm, where she managed clinical trials internationally. She later decided to follow her passion and obtained her RN from Mass General Hospital. Kyle worked in nursing, mostly in labor and delivery, at Boston Medical Hospital, Georgetown University Hospital, and as a travel nurse in Denver, CO, and Los Angeles, CA. Kyle gave everything to those she loved and was the most gracious and loving daughter, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her contagious smile, kind heart, and beautiful soul.
Kyle is survived by her father, Mark Shovlin; stepmother, Stephanie Shovlin; sister, Lindsay DePalma; brother-in-law, Joe DePalma; niece, Leah DePalma; and nephew, Kelly DePalma.
Kyle is preceded in death by her mother, Sherry Crowther Shovlin, and brother, Brett Matthew Shovlin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 from 4-7 pm, at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 10 am at the Peace Dale Congregational Church, 261 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI. Private burial will take place at a later date.
