Kathryn E. Damon

Kathryn E. Damon, 88, of Wakefield, died in her home Monday, September 26, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert W. Damon, Jr. and daughter of the late Raymond T., Jr. and Esther M. (Gavitt) Chappell. Kay Damon was owner and partner along with her husband Albert, of Damon’s Hardware in Wakefield for over forty years. Kay also started a successful yarn shop called “Knit Crafts” on Main Street in Wakefield, which she ran for fifteen years. She is survived by her son, Albert W. Damon, III and her sister Phyllis J. Horton, both of Wakefield. Kay was the sister of the late Raymond T. Chappell, III and Donald E. Chappell. A joint private memorial service is being planned by the family for the couple. Both Kay and Albert, Jr. were born in South Kingstown and were lifelong Wakefield residents. The family has respectfully requested any honorarium or memorial gifts for Kay (and Albert) be sent to South County Hospital, in the name of Albert W.
